The Secret to Learning English - Anna

italki for practice with English native teachers

Hello everyone, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am English, have four children, and I live in the U.S. I was raised and educated in England, and went to London University. I am half Spanish, and very familiar with that country, as I visited my relatives there often during my childhood. I also was fortunate enough to live in Spain for a year. I have a degree in English and Spanish literature, a Master's in counseling and education, certificates in ESL, French, and Nursing Assistant. I work as a medical interpreter, but have taught English and Spanish at middle school, high school, and junior college levels.

I started podcasting in 2008, when my youngest child began preschool. With a few hours of free time, I decided to learn about the internet and do something creative! I have been so encouraged by my listeners that I just want to continue teaching English, and helping students gain confidence and fluency. I am a national relativist, and I believe in finding common ground in our global era.

My interests are traveling, skiing, writing, yoga, gardening, hiking, politics, social justice, and music. And I love to talk about all of these things over a steaming cup of tea or coffee with friends.
